Ireland Field Trips
Please wait for search results...
For too long, Northern Ireland was overshadowed by the Troubles, and many visitors avoided the region for fear of sectarian violence between Irish Catholics and Protestants, and the British. But the Good Friday Agreement of 1998 brought a peace settlement that transformed the political structure of Northern Ireland and provided a forum to discuss the bitter conflicts that divided the island. With the battles now confined to the political arena, visitors can travel freely and safely across the border with the Republic and throughout the region.
In Northern Ireland, you will find many of the same delights as in the Republic: ancient stone circles, Celtic high crosses, historic towns and treasures, lively pubs and friendly people. You will notice a slightly different accent, but you'll be welcomed with the same warm hospitality.
From the vibrant capital Belfast to the walled city of Londonderry to seaside resorts and pretty coastal villages, there is much to explore. Inland, there are tranquil loughs (lakes) and woodlands, the beautiful Antrim glens and Mourne Mountains, and the stunning scenery of the Antrim coast—including the phenomenal Giant's Causeway.
